We went back to our favorite park yesterday and found this huge bullet. Bob is very excited about this! He said it is a 69 caliber CW bullet. He said rare find for Ill. We also found several wheat pennies dating 1917, 1919, and a couple others but he did not include those in the pic. I guess they didn't rate. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Nice finds.

I think the longitudinal depressions are rifling marks, indicating a fired bullet. Probably fired in a rifle-musket, the next generation after the round ball (also .69") smoothbore musket.

Very nice
Congratulations

That's a big boy. I don't see the rifling marks in the second photo, or is that a different bullet?

It's the same bullet. They are only real prominent on one side. Can't even see them really on that side on the 2nd pic.

Judging by the lack of damage on the bullet and the amt. of huge old trees, I'm guessing they fired it straight up in the air! 😄

Nice recovery on the .69 caliber minie ball bullet.
I didn't realize that they made them this big.
Good day as I learnt something new.

It looks huge! I bet that did serious damage sadly.
