Kind of feel funny posting "Obsidian" on the "rock" site since it's "glass"....lol....oh well, these are some of the "long" shaped ones I've found.

Seems green Agate raugh ( hardnes 7 ) and green jade raugh ( hardnes 6.5-7 ).
Obsidian hardnes 5-5.5 and glassy.

Wow --are you sure they're obsidian? Do the fracture like glass? If I found those in my neck of the woods, I'd assume they were jade! Very pretty!

Hi JL & TM....yes am sure it's obsidian, jade would be nice to! There is mostly black around....lucky to find the green ones!

I'm very impressed. Would love a couple pounds of those for the lot-o-tumbler! I'm planning on a week or so of hounding in NM over the holly daze. Any suggestions where to look for such in the central/southern part o' the state?

Not so easy to find the green....should look where there's been recent volcanic action. I find that the most important thing is....the green are often just overlooked & look like the black ones....need to pay attention & look closer wherever you look!
