Yep, I'm a newbie
I've been retired since 2005. I mostly sit on my behind, so my son decided we needed a hobby. I've always been fascinated by metal detecting and check them out online and catalogs all the time. My son bought us a pair of Tecnetics platinum Pro's a few days ago and we went out to the back area of our small, rural property and I found a dime and a quarter after about 30 minutes. I was impressed with the detector and my patience. Looks like I have found something that will get me out of the house and get some good exercise to boot. I've been checking out this site and like it very much. I doubt my area of N. Texas will give up anything like you folks are finding back east, but I'll settle for any coins, jewelry or local artifacts that I can find. I believe it's the journey, not the destination, that is the true reward. That's always been my philosophy when I head out on my '04 Goldwing.
