Bought a box of old (50's) gun cleaning supplies on saturday at a yard sale. One of my hobbies is selling stuff on ebay. Was sorting through an old tin, and these items came out, what a surprise. All have been checked out to be authentic. 2 nazi party pins, and two old german money bills from 3rd reich era. Way cool stuff. Only paid $5.00 for the whole box.

Wow, I just got back from four days of camping, and am surprised on all the differing opinions on my find. I will start out by saying that sweeper is right in saying that I didn't say I was selling these items on ebay, only that That is one of my hobbies. Free, you are quite right about the amount of war related items on ebay and all over the net. Hooray for free trade. Lobsterman brought up good points about items from other wars, should we ban every item from every conflict that someone was offened? Wow, that sounded cold hearted, but wasn't meant to be. As you might(or might not) have guessed, my other hobbie is classic vw's, and the history of VW is deeply rooted in nazi germany. I used too collect everything vw, including nazi pins that related to the vw. Got rid of them when I sold my vw collection cuz it took too much space, and I lost interest. The swastica on the good luck symbol and the nazi one, both point in the same direction. Too way different meanings. Hey Bavaria, Superb find. Yes, mine still has the back pin. It is a brass disk that looks like it slips through a hole on your lapel. Birdman: you are right about sales of nazi items in Germany, when I was there in late 80's, you could buy and sell, just so they were real, and not recent made items. They understand their history, and respect history in general, even if they cannot be proud of it. Here is pic of boy scout , advertisement medal with good luck swatica. Same direction.

Very cool finds. thanks for posting. Weird what you find at yard sales.

i agree with lobsterman.......if you ban the sale of ww2 items you must also include the civil war. i think that the sale of these things is fine as long as they are sold as historic items and not as objects to glorify the nazi party......and the proceeds of such sales should certainly never benefit the funding of such organizations.i think that these kinds of artifacts can actually be a positive thing. they remind people of the tragic past, and hopefully that reminder will prevent people from taking the lethargic attitude that allowed the nazis to gain power in the first place.people should never forget.

Gotta disagree with Free--the autoban had nothing to do with our interstate system. Two things did! (1) Eisenhower made the cross-country convoy trip from the midwest to SF in the early 1900's when most of the roads were unpaved,he never forgot that trip.(2) when the cold war was at it's highest in the mid-50's,the interstates were laid to provide emergengy landing strips for our bombers. They were really thick concrete at that time.We had recently realized that having 90 bombers at one base wasn't really smart, so we started farming them out to new bases at about 20 each, just about the time the B-52's came out,I know because I flew on 'em.

And I gotta agree with free on this point. Hitler was a scumbag, but a few of his ideas were good. One of those was the interstate hiway system called the autobahn. He wanted a car for the people (peoples car) ie. the volkswagen, and he wanted a system of roads that enabled the people to move through the country more easily. He was in a position (sick bastard) to get these things accomplished, and he did. Our hiway system is a direct decendent to the autobahn. Look it up. One great book is "The Peoples car". Half.com always has a copy. Great read. Those who forget our history (or twist it) are doomed to repeat it. Dont let it happen. Gain the knowledge and retain it.

i remember finding a nazi penny a few years ago, i felt like i found a litte peice of history.

hi free, i just saw your # of posts :o WOW so many post's so little time ::) , i guess you've been snowed in out there as much as we have here in the NE. we are just starting to see a few patches of the grass here. i almost forgot what it looked like ;D .

Pat.

I stand corrected after doing some research. In old asian culture the swastika pointed the opposite way that the nazi does. However, I do agree with free, if we restrict, more restrictions will follow.
