Wonderful, unusually warm February day in central Virginia, so I packed up my Tejon before church. Took off after and had 2 1/2 hours on my first hunt of 2014. Sure hope the rest of the year produces like today. Several buttons and more partials. A dozen bullets including two Richmond Lab Sharpes (#s 2 & 3 for this site).

Outstanding Finds! That's a great spot to produce like that! A lot of nice buttons & bullets, I hope there is plenty more for you to find. Good luck and keep it up!

Wow! You were digging that by the shovel full! Nice!

Nice saves

Congratulations. You had a good day. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy seeing all the great CW saves.

That's crazy... Lol.. It's like they planted them for you to find!:) awesome.. What machine do you use? How far down were they on an average?

I use a Tesoro Tejon. Some say it likes iron too much, but I'm sold on it. Average depth yesterday was probably 5". Some field bullets were deeper, and some woods-edge stuff was shallower. One bad story: I was digging through pine roots and crushed a nearly perfect Eagle button. When the back popped out, the inside was nearly dry with that green Patina-dust and I went, "Uh-oh." I didn't HIT it . . . but apparently, I crushed the face against a root. If you look just below the Eagle button and the New York - There's a fragment of the face of the button. Everything else was dust.

Disheartening, yes, but can't be helped sometimes .. Uuhhggg

Nice scores P.W man looks like you are definitely at the right spot. That sucks about the button , but sometimes these things happen especially digging through roots ussually for me I dig and cut and get down about 12 inches to realize its a big ole piece of iron , but then again I have dug down and scored big ! Where abouts in VA are you located ?

Congratulations on the awesome finds.

Awesome digs
IM- experience the Tejon usually sounds off (loud) on larger iron [ witch in a relic situation ,I would likely dig it anyhow]
& gives a sharp short screech-ey sound on the smaller iron.

And for what it's worth , i,m beginning to be able to tell a 22 bullet from a 22 short or LR Casing ,\.

Also there's not much I hate more than striking the piece i,m digging.
Look's like you got a good spot there ; that's a lot of Relics for a couple hour hunt.
Davers

Heck of a good day! Congrats!

Man that is a great hunt for that many CW relics to come out in a short time. Heck of a spot you have found! Hope to see you clean it out!
