Hi Guys,

Can anybody translate for the japanese symbology. I got this map from my inlaws. Please see below attachment. I'm not sure if this are real or fake.

What province is this? We might be able tohelp you solve this riddle.
 

Looks like an old Japanese prison camp map and treasure map. What I can tell you is that the rectangle with apostrophe all around it is a Genuine IJA marking for Gold Bar Deposit. Rectangle itself means entrance.

Well, I'm not sure if someone was having a laugh or not when this was made, but the parts I can make out say:

2. (something) is making the people around laugh.
3. The (teacher's?) Japanese is really good.
4. Tobashi (Tobasu: To skip over, omit)
5. first half illegible, second half nai toki ni, means "at times when illegible isn't"

Sorry I'm not much help, but it mostly seems like gobbledygook.
