I know we talked about this before. But it’s a much fairer comparison now, why both machines have been out for sometime and offering updates.
So where do you stand, if price being equal which is close depending where you buy it, what and why would you consider 1 machine over the other, minus cosemetics because that has nothing to do with performance, thankyou anxiously waiting for the reviews now that you e had ample opportunities to use them.

I have both and I've been using both at an 1850's schoolhouse permission I have. If I spend 4 hours there, I use the Deus 2 and Manticore about two hours each. I have seriously found that both machines are similarly matched. I've been working the ground low and slow to find the "good" targets amongst the iron. To dig all the iron in this school yard would take months.

I've found coins in the iron with both machines at similar depths. I can't really say either machine is better at finding coins in the iron trash. On the Manticore I normally use All Terrain General with depth audio and recovery 3, no other changes from factory settings. Oh, also a ground balance of 0 and sensitivity of 25-28. On the Deus 2, it's either Gary Blackwell's Tekkna program, or the Legacy program I found on Youtube. Always use 95-98 on sensitivity on the deus 2.

Either machine has become my "go to machine". I always have both with me wherever I go. For the most part I have been using the 9" coil on both. IMHO, you can't go wrong with either.

I just bought the WSA 2 XL headphones for the Deus 2. Much better for hearing those deep or masked targets than the factory back phones.

The only area I have noticed major differences between both would be here at home. Both my neighbors have underground dog fences. The Deus 2 has severe issues with this in FMF. Single frequency is a non-issue. The Manticore is much better in multi-frequency. However, I have been using Gary Blackwell's Tekkna program based on Deus Mono to curb the dog fence EMI. So far this has only been a problem at home. Every other place I go EMI has not been a problem.

Hope this helps!

The XP DEUS II might have a very slight advantage in heavy iron and trash but overall the Manticore is the better overall machine in my opinion.

If you have specific questions, feel free to give me a ring. I'll be glad to answer any questions on them. I've used them both and love them both.

My buddy swings the D2 and l the Manticore at cellar holes out in the woods.

Both machines are a tie in my opinion, but for me the removable control panel is a design flaw as it can come off accidentally and get lost. Also the headphones are a poor design, as l prefer over the head ones.

I first got the D2 with the behind the ears headphones. I was like what type of head do these fit on?

It didn't take me long in ordering this type 🎧.
I'm very happy with the choice for sound and comfort.
The control hasn't fallen off in the field. (Yet)

Can’t compare but I’m very happy with the deus 2. its revived a lot of my sites, it definitely can pick through the trash. I also like all the programs and being able to customize your own, it’s like having multiple machines in one I’m still relatively green with it but found my first barber quarter and first barber half dollar already. it’s kind of got me spoiled, I’m a little disappointed when I don’t come home with a solid find.

Oh they didn’t fix the removable control panel problem, gee you loose that it’s over. Wireless etc doesn’t tickle my fancy it’s the overall performance that matters.

Yeah I’m not gonna debate this forever, but the manticore and deus 2 are top notch. But paying the price almost being equal in that. I myself won’t pay any price unless I’m going to utilize the machine to its fullest potential, only makes sense.
Look folks my concern is always performance, cosemetic and weight doesn’t concern me, if you understand. Seperation as in iron etc, thankyou I’m not any different then. Most of you.

I'm a tad confused by what you stated. (easily done on certain days)
So if you didn't hunt saltwater, and that was a feature of the machine, you would pass on buying it?

In the programs of any high end machine I probably ignore 50% of what is in there.
Though the other 50% makes it a real great machine.

I'm using the factory settings but have made some minor tweaks and have had very good results.

I have set the Tekkna program, adjust the Reactivity to site location.
Maybe I will bump the sensitivity up when I can, or need to get deeper.

I have many times gotten a fairly quiet tone. Then I may go through the program settings and listen to see what I hear.
Many programs are nil of any signal, some are so faint I better of been on my toes.
Though I still think alot of times the amount of solar intensity has a bit to do with recoveries.
I have been going to one site, alive, then just a few buttons, then alive again.
Same settings, maybe a few days apart, so it makes me wonder.

Weather does play a part for ground conditions.

I always feel a good rain that soaks the ground good helps call out the targets with the halo effect.

That's a fact I believe also, then again soggy sticky clay is not a winning combination.
Actually it seems to worse than if it was dry sometimes.
Then the stars and the moon align it seems and it doesn't matter how we swing the site is alive with good sounding targets.

In over 5 decades I still scratch the noodle in why this happens. But when it happens I'm digging it.
