Ok folks I need input on the xlt spectrum from whites. I've been thinking of upgrading to an xlt and I got the chance to use a spectrum today and the rest of this weekend. I found a couple of bucks in clad and a earring this evening, but so far it hasn't shown me anything my BH would'nt have. I know there is a learning curve to this machine and I intend to give it a workout this weekend. I'd like some input on tips and tactics and just generally how to figure out what it's telling me. also I'd like to know if there's a difference in the spectrum and the current model of xlt. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

The difference is, an up graded micro chip and different sticker,

DFX up grade would be a better choice for many reasons< just my opinion (but- the learning cruve is steeper).

I went from a Treasure Hunter to an XLT, man can I tell the difference. I love my XLT, but I must admit the pinpointing has spoiled me a bit. I'm still just using it in coin mode, I'll get a chance to try it out on the beach in Florida next month. If you don't mind....what kind of price are you having to pay for the XLT? That would have a lot to do whether I moved up or not. Dan

I've heard that salt water is tough on the XLT with the standard coil. I got a program from one of the guys here on the forum that is supposed to tweak it a little better to get good performance on the beach but supposed to keep it out of the water. I've got another Treasure Hunter to try in the water.

The XLT is a great Detector I have owned several of them. The DFX is better if you can get it. The only thing different form the spectrum and the E series is the name and the stickers.

I have a XLT-E & it works great on the beach. Nice to know about the coil & salt water. I went from a Gold Bug & a Coin Master to a XLT I still have all three. I still only use the preprogramme mod. SASQUASH <><

I'm headed to Maine in June with my two xlt's and my fisher 1280'x. I'll post my thoughts when I get back. I hear the maine beaches are brutal on most detectors. Time will tell, I love to tweek.
