i think, it is a navy ring. but all the coins that were found around it at the same level were in the 1940s and early 50's

The fouled anchor and chain is the insignia for a Chief Petty Officer (CPO). I just retired as one last Sat.

Nice ring! I served 4 years in the U.S.N. (Uss America cv-66) 1980-1984, I was a legalman third class when I got out, joined the Army afterwards - and retired
