Has all the explosives been removed? If not, you are in possession of a destructive device, and could get 10 years and $250K fine from the ATF.

Call Army EOD and have them check it out. They might be able to remove the explosives and save the casing for you.

DO NOT REMOVE THAT WIRE CLIP FOR ANY REASON!!!!

all the explosives has been removed and i have removed
the clip and unscrewed the nose section completely hollow nothing inside

Good to go then!

Looks similar to a live 60mm mortar round that had a marking charge that I found at Ft. McCoy. EOD had to pop that one in place! During WWII they had a range behind the hospital, and not in the current impact area. Lots of old .50 ball and tracer bullets there with 60mm mortar fuses and schrapnel as well. They unearth a live one in that area every year or two. The one before mine was Comp B filled and not a marker like mine.

Treat any round as if it is live until checked out. There are still quite a number of live rounds brought home by vets and forgotten about.

Looks right to me...i found these on Guam back in the 80s
