For those interested, Monday I found a USN, WW2 dog tag. It gave a bottle top signal on my CZ-21. I dig all signals. Up comes a stainless steel dog tag with a small silver chain attached. Monday evening I shot off an email to Angelo's Angels. Got a reply yesterday with a lot of information on the family. I was able to contact a step daughter in Wisconsin and she put me in touch with a sister in Michigan. I got an email from the sister in Michigan last night and I will be sending the dog tag to the family in Grand Ledge MI soon. He died in 1988. He used to live in Detroit.

Awesome! I'm sure your hard work and research will pay off huge...and on 6/6 to boot. Congrats on the great save and looking forward to the return...Ddf.

Scuba that’s just awesome. I’m sure family members are going to appreciate all the researching you did to track them down. Nice work.

Hi, Congrats on the great find and effort you put in to return it to the family members. :occasion14:

Good job on the return - I submitted a Honorable Mention for this post. :icon_thumright:

Nice return and story, thank you for sharing! :occasion14:

A great underwater detectorist, crack researcher, and a gentleman to boot. Class act mate! :occasion14:

Well done! I know the sister is thrilled!!

Well done Scuba, it's a great feeling you get returning such a memento to the family. Kudos to you. :dontknow:

Beyond cool. That family must have been happy.

What a great find Scuba. Congrats on the return, and your efforts to do so.

Many kudos to you ScubaDetector. Too bad the veteran is not with us anymore but I'm sure the family will be thrilled to get this tag back.

Dog tag and small silver chain is heading to Grand Ledge Michigan tomorrow. I just received an email from his daughter. He died 30 years ago in 1988. A small remembrance of the person that helped bring her life. This is the part of the hobby I find most rewarding.

It took me longer than I wanted to compose a letter. Hard for me to get my thoughts in perspective when sending something to a family member 30 years after her father passed away. I enclosed a picture of what the beach looked like when he swam there.

It is in the mail. I just hope it brings good memories.
