I was digging a pond in southern Georgia and dug this up any idea what it is IMG_20171212_091451310.jpg

Taking into account the Sedimentary-rocks geology of the area where you found it (south Georgia), perhaps it is a variety of fossilized algae colony.

It's some kind of rock I think..it weighs 44 lbs View attachment 1526251

I dropped it on accident and it broke. This is what is inside of it.

Now it looks like an old curling stone. They weigh between 38 & 44 Pounds. I don't know if concretions can develop on granite if underwater for many years or not, & I wouldn't have a clue as to why one would be in Georgia. Further research would be appropriate. Interesting find nonetheless. Cool !! (see if you can determine
if there is a hole in the middle for where a handle might have been anchored).

On second thought, maybe someone years ago fashioned a curling stone out of a rock concretion native to Georgia & it is not granite. As I always tell people.......leave no stone unturned when researching a found treasure. (pun intended) The Golash Quahog Pearl Brooch was thought to be costume jewelry.
