My earphone pads seem to come off too easy. I was walking out of woods carrying earphones and they brushed against a limb and one came off. I noticed they dont seat very deep into the grooves and are not glued. Well a couple of weeks ago I got home from a hunt and noticed one was missing. Well thanks to Ed at Treasure Mountain a set arrived in the mail Saturday. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I have not had this issue with my WS5s. I've noticed my pads rotate quite a bit, but they don't feel like they are able to come off easily. I keep kicking myself for not going with the WS4s, for more options.

I had that problem: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/deus/415599-ws-5-headphone-cups-fall-off.html#post4006153

It was during the first week or two of use. I ended up contacting Michael at XP and made a swap--the WS-5s for the wireless Gray Ghosts and WS-4 backphones (for the puck). He even sent them before I shipped the WS-5s back so I could continue to hunt. I haven't looked back.

I've been reading a lot of bad reviews of the GG-Deus setup. They are saying that the tones are poor quality if you use full tones, and if you program multi-tones that some are either left out or very faint. Here's one review, but there are others:

Let us know how you do with these.

I wonder is there is some aftermarket earpads that will fit? My pads rotate quite a bit too.

I've had mine for about a month, and they see heavy use. They don't appear to be rotating freely, nor do I feel they are about to fall off. I'm sorry you guys are experiencing these problems with the headphones. They keep my ears WARM in the wintertime in Italy while detecting!!!

No issues with mine, they are perfect so far. Also I remember someone mentioned the remote not staying attached very well on their Deus. Mine is so tight I'm afraid I'm going to break it when removing.

IMO the WS4 backphones sound better than the WS5s do. The WS5, the higher tones seemed muffled. I bought my WS5s. Knowing what I know know, I would have bought the WS4 backphones and the headphone adapter. Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

We have had no issues. I use the WS-4 phones myself though. Love to still be able to hear around me.

Always good to be able to hear around you when detecting, so you don't get shanked in the back!

Very true. I took my older son to a bad part of town several years back to hunt an old park. He wanted to play on the jungle gym while I detected. He would come over on each dig to see the "treasure" as most kids do. About the 10th dig or so I got the familiar shadow over me once I was on my knees. I pulled out the zinc and put my hand out to show him like I always did cept this time is was a HUGE very rough homeless person. Not much scares me I can see coming since I carry a big shovel but I was on my knees and he was above me hovering over.

As you can imagine... not a fun surprise. I will never forget that day.. lol

Yikes! What did the homeless guy say/do?

BartatBigBoyhobbies,
I agree with your assessment on wanting to be able to hear with the WS5 headset on outside of the cups. I have to pull one side off of my ear when down on a knee listening to my pinpointer. Yes, I know it vibrates, but I like to hear the solid tone when on coins. On a good note, that just goes to show you how quiet the WS5's are when on both ears.

knock on wood, but I haven't had any issues at all with mine. I've been through some pretty thick woods with them too.

I lost one of mine on the 2nd day of use. Luckily I found it in the farm field the next day. A small strip of 3M tape on a few spots will solve this.

By the way, I complained about my remotes falling off (wife has a Deus too) and the repair center sent me replacement clips and they no longer fall off. That was some awesome service and handled immediately. The replacement apparently sent out immediately as well because the package arrived within just a few days. Turns out the original clips were broken.

Same happened to me--and XP replaced the clip very quickly. I'm not sure how the plastic piece breaks, but I suspect it's during installation/removal of the remote, or perhaps if the remote gets knocked when the Deus accidentally falls over on its side.
