Wow, theres alot of silver out there!!

I was real bored, and decided to see if I could add up all the silver that is/was in US circulation..

The website I got my info from was: Junk Silver Coins

I simply multiplied the pure silver weight per coin, times the mintage amount, then added all those numbers together... heres the final breakdowns...

for Nickels through half dollars(not counting special mintages, just the ones listed on that website), the total silver(pure troy ounce): 1,773,037,097.793

Silver dollars(morgan/peace dollars listed on the site) : 655,882,672.34049

Total silver minted in war nickels, barber dime, merc dime, rosie, barber quarter, SLQ, Washington, Barber Half, Walking Liberty, Franklin, 64-70 Kennedys, and Morgan and Peace dollars:

2,428,919,770.13349 troy ounces of silver minted... 2.4 billion ounces?!?! Holy crap

Im sure alot has been melted down... ive only been fortunate enough to find about 40 oz worth of that 2.4 billion... still new to the game, and late to it as well...oh well better late than never :P
