I went out today to meet someone who was going to show me some foundations. He directed me to the spot and I took a ride down the very muddy dirt road. I didn't have any intentions to detect but I always keep my back-up with me no matter what (my ace 250). I found one of the cellar holes took out the Ace and swung for about 5 minutes. Found a pull tab and about a dozen holes where someone else had been. Decided to head home. As you can see from the picture, I went left when I should have gone right. 4 hours and 300 bucks later I finally got it out. DFXwilly, I don't think we'll be going to this spot anytime soon.

Wow CS, that totally sucks. I know you learned an expensive lesson on that one, but the bright side of the story is that your engine started back up later with no problem.
Any fish in there? :tongue3:

me and a friend did that in florida before cell phones and had to drain the pond just to get a jack under it so we could fill in the area under the tires with sand. 6 hours later we were laughing about it.
worst part is we had to evict a turtle and got very muddy.

What I expected was to see someone in handcuffs :o
I been there (almost, not as deep) wheels spin as you sliiiide sideways into the mire.
Where's the pulltab pic ?
Glad you got out without major issues, (think about getting wheel bearings & differentials serviced)

It's funny you mention handcuffs. The only guy who could pull me out worked for the police so I had to have a cop come down and check out the situation before the tow drive would come down. He started giving me a bunch of crap about how he should site me 250.00 for trespassing. I said, "who owns this land?", he told me, "the city of __." I then asked, "isn't this a main road." He quieted up after that and then took a phone call from someone to go grab some food and split.

As far as the pulltab goes, I don't know where it is. Probably floated underneath the back seat or something.

still beats a good day at work.......

Reminds me of my teenage years, my friends and I would go out looking for spots like that just to see whose truck could make it and whose couldn't. At least your out and everything is working again, you didn't get your 250 wet did you?

HH Charlie

And I would be buying a Wench for the front of this auto ! And the next time you could pay yourself to get you out . :)

Yeah I bet you were glad to be home from that trip .

No, the 250 was on the passenger side and that side stayed pretty dry. First thing I did when I started seeing things fill up was take my gps, detector and other electronics and put them up so they wouldn't get wet.

Tell you what. I'll quit driving my boat on the road if you quit floating your car in the water :)
