Minelab CTX 3030, Minelab E-Trac w/Sunray probe and 15' WoTcoil.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I went out today to meet someone who was going to show me some foundations. He directed me to the spot and I took a ride down the very muddy dirt road. I didn't have any intentions to detect but I always keep my back-up with me no matter what (my ace 250). I found one of the cellar holes took out the Ace and swung for about 5 minutes. Found a pull tab and about a dozen holes where someone else had been. Decided to head home. As you can see from the picture, I went left when I should have gone right. 4 hours and 300 bucks later I finally got it out. DFXwilly, I don't think we'll be going to this spot anytime soon.

Just goes to show detecting can be an adventure in more ways than one, and like any other day you take the good with the bad :occasion14:

Yeah, I'm not feeling so enraged right now. The car wouldn't start for a few hours and I was freaking out that water got in the engine. But I just got back from the garage and it started right up. Gonna need a good detail :tongue3:

:-\ Looks like the water bolted right out in front of you. Hate when that happens.

Why did you drive into the water? Oh, I guess you have a water detector and you didn't want to walk far.

Because that's the only way to get in and out. When I came in I drove in through the right but this side looked a lot more shallow. I tried to up around in the grassy area and just slid in. It was a dumb move on my part but, live and learn.

How in the hel! could you mistake taking the high dry, over the pond is what I'm wondering. :dontknow: :laughing7: That really sucks pits.

You can't see the full scope of the area. There is no real "high dry" spot. It looks different in the picture then it actually is. You have to drive in to the mud and then drive up it, which I was trying to do. I was talking to the tow driver and he says almost weekly someone gets stuck in the same spot. There's usually a sign there that says not to drive through there because it looks deceiving and has a number to call if you get stuck but some kids keep taking the sign down.

Btw, there's actually a whole facebook page dedicated to this spot and most of it is photos of people stuck in the same place I was. I wish I saw them ahead of time :(

rofl dude that sucks...... wow i would be so P*&^ed, but we live and learn from our mistakes

What's life without a little adventure ?
Makes the good times even better !

:read2: Glade no one was hurt and everything  got worked out. Chalk it up as a learning experience :laughing7: and press on.

Hoowee :P
What I expected was to see someone in handcuffs :o
I been there (almost, not as deep) wheels spin as you sliiiide sideways into the mire.
Where's the pulltab pic ?
Glad you got out without major issues, (think about getting wheel bearings & differentials serviced)
