It does resemble a wooly... but i think by the pictures you have a really cool boulder.... errr... boulders rather.

This is outside my forte'... so i am not one to really give you any info.

BUT... it is super cool looking. :)

Natural, look up pareidolia,

[h=2]pareidolia[/h] (păr′ī-dō′lē-ə)n.The perception of a recognizable image or meaningful pattern where none exists or is intended, as the perception of a face in the surface features of the moon.

The symmetry of the eyes though....I excavated his trunk. It was mostly covered up. I have hundreds of boulders of which 4 look like animals. I have a snapping turtle, lizard and flying goose and the wooly.

Haven't see those but most likely it is also caused by pareidolia. Did you look at the link I posted of pictures.

I did just look at your link and you are probably right. I was starting to believe I had the 8th natural wonder of the world in my back yard. I have some artifacts I found that I'm about to post. Would love your opinion.

May have been used as grinding stones by Native Americans for something. :icon_scratch:

Possibly small old caves used by fairies living in the woods... ok maybe not. :laughing7:

The weird thing is it appears that certain rocks on our farm looks like someone carved eyes into them. They are all symmetrical. TH is most likely correct, but mastedon's were known in this area of NW Georgia. Is there a way to find out if someone actually carved this. What kind of person is a specialist in this area? Thanks, Beth

You should post pictures of the others for comparison. I think the others are probably right in that it's just nature. You could reach out to the anthropology or geology department at UGA or Ga State...or even KSU. I'm over in Stone Mountain and wanted help ID'ing a rock and just reached out to a general email from the department...they got back to me right away and connected me with the right professor. Worth a shot.

It’s natural. Erosion will break rocks into all sorts of suggestive shapes.
