Woohoo happy dance(UPDATED PICS)

1838 large cent in my basement woooooooohooooooooo ,, cleaning out more mud from the french drains and out pops this beauty, she has some good details even a bit pitted but she made me happy,, so in my book this my banner find for the year., i figure for some of the new guys and gals here to give you a idea of the size of a LC compared with a current cent and a Half dollar

Looks like i was wrong the date now show 1833 after a week of soaking in olive oil

Lucky find! Looks like a patina over the coin, may be better preserved than you think. HH, Mike

Never know where you will find treasure... Nice find..

excellent. I wish my drains were full of old coins :icon_thumright:

thanks everyone not real sure how often this gals show up but i am happy to have even found one

Thanks everyone, i have gotten it clean as i can with out removing to much patina , she is fairly pitted but that is to be expected 175 yrs old an in a damp basement, happy huntinn ya'll

Great find there. Sounds like you need to metal detect your yard now. ;)

Damn thats awesome..I would love to find a coin that old...Great Recovery !!

Nice Large Cent. I have found 4 of them and the last one was the only one I could get a date off of. It was a 1824 but just my luck someone drilled a hole through the center of it. We should not need to wait to much longer here in PA (if that is what the penn state is for) to be able to get out and dig. Best of luck hunting this season.
