this coin is just slightly (maybe a millimeter or so) smaller than a U.S. gold dollar, and i believe i may have aquired it from receiving dollar coin change from a train-ticket vending machine the other day.

looks like someone is selling one on ebay. other than that, i can't find any information on this coin. it seems to be a tribute coin of some sort. any ideas? thanks!

Presidential collector coins (or tokens) come from many different sources.I can't tell you the source of this coin. They came and still come from different places.I have some from the "History Channel" and some from the U.S.mint.The one pictured below is about the size of a kennedy half and comes from the U.S.mint.What got my attention was the fact that you got it from a change machine at a train station.A friend of mine rides the train (tri-rail) to work everyday down here and he was telling me how he didn't like the change machines because they give back sacagawea dollars for change.I just thought that was interesting.Never heard of machines giving back sac.dollars before.Seems nobody likes them, they don't bother me any.Well good luck and H.H.

hey thanks a lot!

(somewhat off topic) yesterday i took new jersey's riverline train from camden to where my cousin lives in burlington city. this train is pretty new, and does not seem (from what i could tell) to have a window to purchase tickets, or even the option of purchasing a ticket on the train. there are attendants who check for tickets, however.

so i used one of those machines. i really don't like putting a twenty dollar bill into a machine to purchase a ticket, and getting back 18 dollar-coins and a few quarters... but that's how it goes. i got about half Sacagawea's and half Susan B's. I really like the look of the new golden dollars, i just don't think they're convenient to carry around.

This token I have is about somewhere in between the size of a Sacagawea and a Susan B. It's an interesting coin, certainly worth a dollar, so I don't have any plans to try to "reintroduce" it back into circulation :)

thanks again :)

hi sifelaver,
when i was a kid, long time ago when gas was 32 cents a gallon. if your dad or grandpa went to the right gas station the man would come out and wash your windshield, check your oil and pump gas, then he would give you one of these coins if you filled up.
you had the whole presidents up till then on the coins
ps. i think it was shell gas
h.h.

You have the same one as I do. Woodrow Wilson I dug it a month ago, and posted about it in Tokens and Tags Forum. Under; ( Presidential Token ) Asking who distributed them. Check it out and maybe the answers I recieved will help you. HH

I have found two of these. One has Roosevelt and the other has Kennedy. I also heard that the gas stations gave them out in the 60's and early 70's
