Dayton, Oh
Here is a pic. of some ammo that I've dug up in the last 2 months. Included is a 9mm hollow point, two 22's, a 12 ga. shell bottom, a 16 ga. shell bottom, a 30-30 rifle shell, and last but not least the center shell that has me stumped. I dug this out of an old yard and it has 38 caliber shell, but here's where it gets interesting. It has a wooden top (as you can see by the hole in the side) with small shot balls inside. Any historians out there with knowledge of old ammo???? The wooden top is out of my realm of understanding.......Thanks for any thoughts.........Goadster from Ohio

Very cool, didn't know they had such a thing. We just used a .22 pistol at the old farmhouse I used to stay at,in my fresh out of high school years, back in the 80's. ;D That corn crib was just too close to that house!

They make it in .22LR I used to use it in my semi-auto 22 rifle. We would sit in lawn chairs, sipping iced tea and popping the rats off the powerlines and trees, the grains are so small we weren't concerned about the pellets doing any collateral damage!

Yeah, when we wee younger my brother (hint-always blame it on the little guy ;) ;D) used to shoot sparrows and pigeons in the garage on the farm with his pump up bb gun. When he missed the bb went through the corrugated tin. Dad was puzzled for a while as to why the garage had started leaking and getting water on his bench and tools. After wearing a leather belt below the waistband about 10X's, we learned what dust shot was. Thanks for the memories, ouch!
