No, this is not my usual post of colonial relics or coins. Since I can't get into the fields this time of year my only option is to hit some of the local salt water beaches for a little water hunting. Been using my new CZ-21 which I purchased late last summer, and I think I've finally figured it out (especially the ground balancing part). This machine goes really deep and I may even give it a try at a pounded colonial site in the fall. Anyway, I've been focusing more on hunting in deeper water to increase my chances for landing on some nice gold jewelry that others may have missed. But although I've dug over 15 rings this season including 3 nice tungsten carbide ones and a couple silvers, I have yet to see bonafide gold in my scoop. But at least I'm having a lot of fun plus this helps me to pass by the usually long, boring summer months. Hopefully some gold will be in my immediate future. If not, at least I have the colonial relic fields to look forward to in a couple of months.

Beach hunting? Really? ??? Seriously ??? Are you truly being serious for real? How about research, research, research during the fast approaching dog days of summer?

Well all joking aside, I offer no disrespect to you or any other beach hunters out there. Hey, I spent lots of time back in the day, wading around the shoreline, sweeping a coil and slinging my scooper. Whatever it takes to get you though the hot summer months.

How about some motivation? A guy with lots of experience in my local detecting club does a mix of colonial hunting and beaching hunting. Two years ago he searched a beach that offered up an early 20th century $10 gold eagle, and he's gone on to dig about another 4-5 gold eagles and half-eagles all the same general area. How's that for beach hunting?

The secret is to give up trying to find gold rings. I did this at the beginning of the year. Now have 3 of them. Good luck

Stratching the itch....

I'd say that was a good at the beach, my beach hunting experiences have not been as productive. At least your getting out, since I have got my XP Deus 2 weeks ago i've managed to get out for 1 hour. It's starting to get really really itchy.
