Drove out to the site for a few hours detecting listening to Pink Floyd. Felt very chilled out when I got there and just let my legs take me around the field without any thought what so ever. Detecting this way is just like meditating, your mind becomes very still and calm as you randomly weave around the field. Made a few finds first a 1934 penny, followed by a much older coin a cut quarter of a Henry 111 penny (1247-72). Artifact wise I found a lead loom weight maybe medieval, and lastly a fragment of a bronze medieval mirror case 13th/14th century. Medieval mirror cases used to be very rare, until recently. Having a few beers now, starting to feel comfortably numb !.

HH Robert.

(Not putting down the find in anyway, I've not had a sniff of hammered for awhile)
The Qrter looks more like a cut half broken by the plough. Still I'll be happy with it right now :tongue3:

Thanks for your post everything attitude, as it shows the realities of UK detecting. ie not all roman silver etc...

We have to work at it like everyone else on here 8) More time=more finds

Good post there Mr. Rob!
You've got this MD'ing thing figured out my friend!
It's not about the finds but the pursuit thereof! :)

Yes Crusader, it probably did start out as a cut half, you can tell by the ragged edge, but it sure is a quarter now .

That's spot on Mr GRB, it's the search that drives us on to who knows where ?. Very nice picture, make mine a Red Stripe.

Hi Crusader, Just had a look at some of the cut quarters iv'e found over the years. Although you can't see on the picture some have a ragged edge. Perhaps it was common practice to break a half if you wanted two quarters. We do still use the term "break" to mean changing from larger to lesser.
