I have been using my headphones on my ACE 250. It seems that all they are good for tangibly is to get in the way when your trying to dig something up. Does anyone know of a good set of wireless headphones that would work on the ACE? I been researching some and have found several pairs but before I go and spend the doe I would like some input.
Thanks...

Hello Ace,
My headphone wires inside came apart so I looked into wireless. I read somewhere on the site about others that went wireless. I went with the Radio Shack model I think it is the 1353 model. I have an M6 I plug the transmitter into the adapter at the back of the machine and do not need to tape or tie it down as it remains under the box and out of the way. The headphones go over the ears and behind the neck. Can wear a hat if I choose.

I like them but someone else said they were junk. It does let in noise where the traditional big cup headphones keep all noise out. However, I am not surprised when people or dogs approach. I don't mind the trade-off. Best Buy has a Bluetooth system but you are talking about $90.00. My system costs $77.00 and it included the transmitter/receiver, charger, adapter, and a one year extended warranty. I get a little crackling every now and then and it did take some getting used to but in all I think they have performed well. They are good for an 8 hour usage then you will need to charge them again.
Good Luck and HH Roy

Thanks, I will look into the ones you purchase. I too will accept the trade off. In town you can hear the tones for a long ways away. This way everyone in the county can't hear me.

Thanks.

I'm interested in a wiereless system my own bad self. How is the tone? Is it pretty much the same as what you hear with attached phones? Would love to try before I buy. Monty

Hi Monty,
The tone is slightly different as I mentioned they do allow in some outside noise. The pitch is slightly higher but not by much. I basically get the same or closely similar tone on the nickels, penny/dimes, and quarter. I found the crackling that happens occasionally more distracting than the slight difference in tone. Need to listen more carefully but when you it a good singal they will sing out.

I would go to Radio shack and tell the sales rep what you are doing, they were very helpful up here in Mass. If I didn't like them I could have brought them back with no questions asked. The only thing I would probably not have been able to return was the adapter. The adapter does allow you to get a regular set of stereo headphones to use. I have seen a couple of MDer's on the beach with those as they are lighter and have a longer cord. Hope this helps. The site I found my info on was on Whites undet Tips and you have to go back to earlier this year to get the original information posted.

I just finished this hour, making an adapter for the dongle that came with my Macally Bluetooth wireless headphones, ($35 deal at PacificGeeks.com). I bought a couple of 1/4 inch plugs and got a couple of 3mm jacks from work, soldered them together and they appear to work. I think I am getting pickup from the fluorescent lights here so I will test them at home, outside, later today. Pictures pending. I plan on taking them to my club meeting to see if they work on different models. My guess is if the work on multiple frequency machines they should work with most others. This is the same headphones and dongle offered at www.kellcodetectors.com . They include an adapter and some Velcro but at a cost much more than I wanted to pay.

My hunting buddy got the new BLUETOOTH wireless headset for his detector and he said that it was NO GOOD! He actually went to that option because we were getting tired of the new KOSS earphones that go around your ears snapping off. So he paid the 90 something dollars and got it. He said that it was a waist of money because it gets alot of interference with the detector, power lines, etc. and also said that it DID NOT receive far at all...Even though you dont need them too as you would usually dig with detector at side. He made it sound like the volume would fade in and out just digging beside the detector. Also, he said that the bluetooth piece could easily get broke if you trudge through the woods like we often do. Also, the battery life is short and can start to be a problem as well when you do 5-6 hour hunts which we usually do... Again his biggest complaint was LOTS of INTERFERENCE from the Bluetooth system he bought from KELLYCO Anyway, I was very interested in getting it as well for my MXT. But I am glad that he bought them first ;D ;D as it saved me time, money, and hassle. What I decided to do is get an extension cord for an MP3 player which is not the big thick coiled kind but it is the thin wire which does not weigh down your phones or stretch and pull on the twigs and such. It seems to be doing quite well for me...I keep what I dont need rolled up and tied tight with zip ties. Anyway, that is my report on the wireless for detectors.

Disclaimer: That is just his opinion of wireless. He usually has to have all the latest and best for detecting but this one he seems to think is not quite ready for the detecting World. Wireless needs to be perfected before it will be good for the detecting World. I trust his opinion however, and will stick with my "Over the Ear" Koss which are actually not that bad with a short extension wire.

I have the macally set up to use with the EX2 and the F-75. They work ok on the EX2 but the F-75 is so fast that there is lag time between the target and the sound making finding the target difficult. So, I use wire on the F-75 and wireless on the EX2 which has a much slower response time. Should work OK on the A 250

heres a pic of the ones i bought at RS, works very good on my minelab, didnt work on the wifes bounty hunters untill we purchased the volume control cord , the volume wasnt very loud on hers and i did alittle research and it appears that the bounty hunter was too much for the little box on the headphones and the volume control cord was the trick , now hers is very loud ;)

this is the way to go! cords stink....
i've been thinking of getting a universal cell phone blue tooth adapter and wiring that up to my detector. i dont want to compromise both my ears and make myself a sitting duck to theives or dogs.

thats what i like about my headphones , i can hear the outside world, they dont cover all my ears so i get to hear both the detector and whats going on around me ;)

Does anyone know if somebody currently makes a wireless headphone that has only one ear cup?

Look on UK EBAY
www.ebay.co.uk
And do a search for Scottish Innovation.
They do a set specially designed for detectors. I think they´re on special offer at the moment too. You could of course Google them in the UK too
