Metal Detecting
Found these items winter metal detecting yesterday in 3 areas of my town. The spoon says "US Sterling C° Al" (At least i think it does), I found it at a 1854 home site. The door lock I also found at the 1854 home site. I am not sure if the horseshoe is modern or not, but my friend and I found that where an old barn used to be. I'm not sure what the thing that looks like a jewelry clasp is... found that in an old baseball field.

Nice finds congrats! The jewelry thing looks like maybe it was a broach that may have held a picture or something, but I 'm guessing. HH!

That's kinda what I was thinking, I was hitting myself for not looking in the hole afterwards for anything non-metal.

Nice hunt. I found a door lock like that. Certainly interesting. My home site is 1910ish. I have no idea how old my lock is. Fun to find stuff like that.

HH.

Any day you find a sterling spoon is a really good day !

Im not sure if it's sterling silver or silver plated though... but still a neat find!

Those locks can date back to the early 1800s. There are 2 houses in my area with locks like that; one was built in 1813 and the other in 1864.

Actually, that's a grommet from an old canvas tarp or the "side curtains" on an old touring car. The other part had a swivel piece that fit into your piece & turned to hold the tarp or "side curtain" in place.
