First off, in 1925 till 1930 something there was no I-25 and certainly not that elaborate circle loop exit at Rincon.

First off, in 1925 till 1930 something there was no I-25 and certainly not that elaborate circle loop exit at Rincon.

I wished I could find the original writing of the story about (Perrone _ Reynolds) and it is not the story told by Apache Jim

When she came to New Mexico she did not first settle in Hot Springs, I think first in Socorro, then lake Valley and her name at that time was leasman, or Leseman, but this is still not her birth name.

Best I remember the first story I read said she was born around 1850 in New York, educated in New York, Conneticut, And Vermont and served as a pediatrician in Chicago.
She was terminated for performing abortions, and moved to missouri, about 1922 she moved to New Mexico, people there found out she was a doctor and kept after her for her services,
she began delivering children as a mid wife, and opened a short lived clinic in Las Cruses, she was caught doing abortions and obtaining drugs illegally, from then on she traveled to Mexico
to do her abortions, Being a Mid Wife she was left with many children that the mothers couldnt care for, and adopted them out through a young lawyer in Las Cruces
Named Neumeyer.

One of the children left with her she kept and raised as her own, he loved horses and when he was old enough she got him one, he traveled all over the mountains and one evening lost his berings, and camped at Fort seldon, this is where he found the map, there was no sextant, after arriveing home he showed the map to his adoptive mother and as she read Castillian fluently she recognized it for what was,
a treasure map, after searching several weeks they had found nothing but she recognized one of the land marks on the map even though it was upside down and backwards, this is where
she found out she needed a sextant by talking to some swedish sailors that were in hot springs for the mineral baths.

The original sextants up untill the early 1800's only had one mirror, so the lower half of your view was upside down and backwards, they stumbled across one of the caches before ever obtaining a sextant, the boy and the map dissapeared, upon the gold act in 1933 Neumeyer turned in two gold bars to a bank in El Paso.
Thats pretty much all I remember exept the boys name was never mentioned, and I Know her name was not Perrone, it might have been Harris but I dont remember,
Oh yeah there was no mention of a red wool coat.

I know the timeline is all messed up in this story but i think I am correct on the dates,as far as being born in 1850 and coming to New Mexico in 1922, ther are about a hundred hours of video
interviews of old timers from Hot Springs for the cenntinial, when asked about Margaret Harris most of them sull up and say I dont have anything to say about her,
but one woman says yea Mrgaret Harris was the first doctor here some say she wasnt a doctor but she was she delivered me, this women was almost 97 in 2012, another man says yeah Margaret Harris
opened the first hospital in Hot Springs it was on third street close to date street right where anderson homes is today

Remember from the obituary of Mrs Perrone Charles Harris was her grandson not her son, but he handled the settling of her estate along with a lawyer named Roger Neumeyer.

her birth name was harris

and the cabin was outside Rincon

and No , there was no loop

and yes , two shots had been fired from the Colt

There was a group of maps and other papers found at the cabin outside Rincon, they were hidden there by the kinney gang because they had no monetary value. there is suppose to be other items also deposited around the cabin. np:cat:

BIGSCOTT,

We were in New Mexico for about three weeks in February and March, hiking and sightseeing, but we did get in quite a bit of research along the way.

One person we did look into was Margaret Perrone.

I don't have time to go into everything right now but you are "spot on" with much of your story.

I would love to know your source. If it all came from the story you read, you have a tremendous memory.:)

Anyway, Nice Job and I'll try to post some followup documents on Margaret when things settle down a bit.

I always enjoy your posts!

I read that story many years ago and cant remember where, when the story popped up here I started searching (I never through anything away, but dont keep it very organized either)
I found several versions of the same story here but but not the one I originally read, I really wanted to get my ''facts'' straight before I chimed in, I did alot of searching in
the geaneology sights, and old newspaper sights, I do have a good memory for certain things, others go right through me, I am positive the story I read said she was born in New York,
and educated there and Vermont and connetticut, she was either born in 1850? or maybe she went to New Mexico when she was 50? but I am pretty sure it was in 1922.
Also the story said she was seen in the mountains with a mirror several times and played it off like she was fixing her hair and most people thought she was just a vain person.

Not pealta
been reading up on the Kinney gang, thats a great possibility, there was a fort Thorne on the west bank of the Rio Grande, maybe those ruins,or one of the outbuildings
were one their hideouts, have you ever thought of Kinney as being the source or transporter of the stone maps? and maybe why they were found in two different locations?
in later years he had a successful gold mine in that area.

I'd love to hear about your adventure's, and see pics if you have any
Thanx

BIGSCOTT,have a big:coffee2: I think the stone tablets were made by Travis T, but I believe him and who ever else was involved with him had an original map that they copied from and left some things out, and changed others, yes, I believe and said so several times , that the original map was found with the others in the caballo's. I also believe all the maps and papers found at the cabin are all by the same author, they have a lot of similarities , also I believe the original map which was used to make the stone tablets is a double location map, it leads you to two different locations, one is the caballo's and the other is the Colorado river, both had great water transportation for shipping any where in the world you would want to go. np:cat:
