will a 5x8 help me.

I put a 5 x 8 on my at pro and seldom change it. It reduces the time locating the target.. at least for me. It was money well spent.

The big negative of the 5x8 coil is coverage. Try doing 100 acres of woods with it and I'll see you in a year. The 8.5x11 coil covers WAY more ground and it does go deeper than the 5x8 coil. As for picking out good stuff in trash, low and slow is the way to go. When I run into an iron filled area, I just slow down and listen for the good tones mixed in with the iron signals. Just set it to pro mode with zero discrimination and shut that annoying iron audio off.

Just my take on it...

If you have seriously trashy areas the sniper is great coil also, but it is not for big areas as it is small.
