Wife Says Powder Flask Part??

Hello All. The wife says powder flask piece...I say part of a broom or brush handle.

Found it at a 1900's home site. It's brass with no markings on it, the edges on the large end look as if cut by a saw.

My guess would be a lanyard (aka: aguillettes, fourragere, rope, etc.) tip.

There was a coal tool similar to that, that had a handle. In houses with several fire places, they would use it to take coals from one fireplace to start fires in other rooms. They would then use one of those small bellows type things to blow on the coals.
Doesn't seem likely in Florida though.

I agree with vhs07... it is the spout component of a vessel, made of sheetbrass, probably from a miner's lamp, as the photo posted by VHS07 shows, or a similar lamp.
