Why would you do that Whites?

This is interesting:

White's Official Statement on American Digger TV Show

In other words, "We didn't SPONSOR them, but we want to be CONNECTED WITH them, so we provided machines for them to use." How disgusting.
Way to play both sides against the middle.

I think I'm done with White's and I will start looking into other machines, I can't condone game playing.

This their official statement, word for word.

[h=2]White's Official Statement on American Digger TV Show[/h]
We would like to clarify our relationship with Spike's American Digger. White's is not a sponsor of the show, but has provided metal detectors- as have other manufacturers.

We have not had an opportunity to provide input on the direction of the show and we share many of your concerns. While sensationalized finds make for exciting reality-TV, they don’t necessarily show our hobby accurately, or in a positive light. As always, the satisfaction of our loyal customers and the long-term health of our hobby remain top-priority.

I can't see anywhere in there where they want to be connected with AD. Simply says they have provided detectors for them to use and so have other manufacturers.

Like someone else previously posted, I'm sure White's had no clue what direction the show would take when they provided the detectors in the first place.

White's makes great detectors. They also have the best customer service in the industry bar-none IMO.

To put this in perspective, it would be like Ferrari donating a car for a race. Then the racer smashes the crap out of it. Say the racer is Ric Savage (we can all dream can't we?) and he gets hurt, bad......
:laughing7:

To say you're never gonna buy a Ferrari ..... well, that's kinda silly isn't it?

Your perspective is interesting, but impaired by reality.

If the driver is an obnoxious IDIOT, destroying racing for EVERYONE and Ferrari donates a car to them just so they can can get their car on the TV show, not caring about the damage that the moron and the show is doing, just to sell more cars, that is irresponsible and stupid on Ferrari's part.

You are assuming White's donated detectors to the show AFTER seeing what it was about. I see nothing that supports this.

Most likely they were asked by producers prior to the show even airing the pilot.

Whites donates detectors all the time. I have even asked for and received donations before, myself. Prior to the event, of course.

This Part :

So whites ;
don't connect with the show in your adds, Put a disclaimer up, if your going to do the Minimum you can.

Maybe advise them they will NOT Receive one more donation till the show is Changed to show our hobby accurately, in a positive light.

So if I told White's I was "making a TV show" about metal detecting and asked them to donate detectors, they would? I should try that.

If they donated them before the show was aired, and then saw how obnoxious and irresponsible the show was, using their machines, don't you think they would make a statement to that effect? I sure as hell would.

But no, instead they make NO statement about the show, and instead tout the fact that their machines are "as seen on American Digger", yet TRY to appease people by saying they "don't sponsor the show, only DONATED the machines, but hey, look, coincidentally they use our detectors!" and try to let the publicity ride, playing both sides.
I don't buy it.
Shameful and disgraceful.

Yes they most likely would. With documentation, of course. Any Tom Dick and Harry that calls up they aren't necessarily gonna donate a detector to, but they do support many, many causes with donations of detectors every year. They're just that way, good people. :icon_thumleft:

I'm sure other manufacturers do the same thing.

They HEAVILY censor their forum. I know for a fact. And, don't even mention another brand on their forum either!!

Whites does not have a forum. It's a one way conversation. They have a mod on there that's out in left field.

American Digger is a joke. I watch it for amusement. Sadly the season is over. Lol. White's screwed up big time.

I simply don't like manufacturers forums in general, make me feel like in a POW camp

I read Whites saying it all was a mystery, nobody knows how "as seen on TV" happened

Well after reading this post I am just laughing. Com'on do any of you really know how donations work?
I had an hi-end audio and video store and have been asked to donate some plasmas for a tv show, back in the days when plasmas were worth $10.000 and donating one was no option for my business.
You DON'T know how they are going to actually use what you give them, I mean they do give you a vague idea on what the show will be about, on were they are going to place (or use ) your donated items, and that is about it.
Whites couldn't know exactly what was going to happen to their detectors, or how they were going to use them.
Also once you donated the items there is nothing you can do. You can't call the show producer and tell them to stop using your detectors, you can't even tell them to use them in a different way, they are just theirs. (at least this is how it works here).
What White's SHOULD have done is to put a note in their web page stating they disagreed in how the detectors where used and how the hobby was shown. If they didn't do it well that is the bad part. Now saying I won't buy a white machine ever again just because of a TV show is just plain ridiculous. It's like saying I won't ever buy a Glock pistol because on many movies it is used to kill people... com'on...
I like whites products and I will stay with them if they make a new detector that will work for me, as for now I have no need of anything more than what I have.

if a reality show program would ask me to donate something to them I would just shut the door in their faces

As long as Fox is a moderator there I will no longer post on that forum, I was going to the chatroom recently until they screwed that all up, it's a real joke now, you can log into the chatroom (shoutbox is how they describe it) and see post's from people who aren't even logged on anymore.

He has chased a lot of customers away from the forum and whites detectors. It amazes me that the good people at whites don't see this.

I am starting to wonder if there is anyone in CHARGE of that company anymore. It's sad actually, what has happened.

And a lot of moderators have what is called "heavy badge syndrome" The title is rife with bullies, kinda like police departments are.

(This is the second time I have typed this here, the first time it was edited and deleted. As if to PROVE my point.)

I personally love some of your posts. No thread is complete without a witty comment from you or Sparticus lol. we need more people willing to call BS on something in this world

Like I said minelab has gave stuff as well, they didn't use the as seen on american diggers but one show they actually mention exactly what minelab they was using I'm sure that wasn't a freebee. It was the show where they supposedly found the cannon at the bottom of the lake they said were using a minelab excalibur. Those shows aren't going to give a plug to a company for nothing.
