I have found several halves with holes in them...curious as to why or what you all might think is the reason. I am saying some people made necklaces out of them or does anyone think maybe a mark? Just wondering and thanks.
Happy CRH!

Necklace.

Hey, Pepperpump, my wife is a bank teller for Wachovia Bank (Gainesville Branch), and she has noticed the same thing. I've always guessed that it was done for a necklace. Don't know for sure.

I was thinking the same thing but thought maybe someone may mark like that but would be a slim chance, take care everyone! Try to stay cool this week, gonna be hot on the east coast this week!
Pepperpump ;)

This can be solved by an easy math equation:

Hole in coin + fishing line = free plays on the jukebox!

Good idea, I love it! Wonder if that would work with soda machines ;)

might have been one a keychain.
That is my vote.

I have a JFK and an IKE on my keychain. When I go bank hopping I SHOW and SAY half and big dollar. They help a bit but those tellers still try and sell me those sac $$ and those other quarter size ones.

I got a holy Kennedy last summer that was seriously worn. It is on my keychain getting even MORE wear.
;D

my dad found a 1964D nickel in a roll of coins back in 1973. the girls that found it said hey, look at this! they said he could have it because they don't want to be caught with it and go to jail for defacement. ::) he took it and put it on his keychain. it is very worn now and has no detail just the date and a shadow of jefferson's face and the back. its about the thickness of a cent.

I had a cashier who wouldn't accept one of those about 2 months ago. She said it was because Kennedy had a hole in his head when he was assasinated. I guess I had never thought of it that way.

I see her point, but that is ridiculous. Next time, go drill a hole in Lincoln's head on a penny and give it to her. ;D
