YOURS MAY BE SHARP - BUT DIGGER GUYS USE LESCHE ON THEIR SHOW AND THEY MANGLE THEIR PLUGS AND THEN TEAR THE CRAP OUT OF THE HOLE
I USE A LARGE SHARP KNIFE TO CUT MY PLUGS - ALWAYS BIG ENOUGH SO I WONT HIT TARGETS AND WHEN I PUT IT BACK - YOU NEVER KNOW I WAS THERE

Thanks for the advice Casper. I will sharpen my knife I found at Bass Pro and try out your technique!

Imagine what it would do to a finger or hand! I've cut mine with my sod cutter so I can't imagine!

Yep, I don't know if I am ready to use it yet. I might practice using it in the backyard with my pro pointer first so I know how to use it properly! I don't think I want to know how much damage it does to a hand.

hmm ... maybe a bit of ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowboarding -- til your piece of our earth thaws out! :icon_thumright: Good luck if ya keep digging now! HAVE FUN! Andi

I wish I could but I do not have the equipment to do any winter outdoor activities. I think I might save up to buy some used cross country skis to occupy my time in the winter.

wups! maybe you could carry around a portable hair dryer and warm the ground first. :)

I feel your pain! Congrats on getting ANYTHING out of the frozen tundra! Had to leave a lot in the frozen ground today!
Don't ever drop that on your foot!!!

That is probably the best solution that I have ever heard for any of my problems! I would be detecting 24/7 in that case!

Thanks, I was shocked we could even chip away at any of the ice. The ground was frozen with a layer of ice and about a foot and a half of snow on top of that. Next time I am going to have to bring a pick axe!

From experience when digging in frozen ground, if you have to dig a deep target, chances are you will damage it. The reason being is that you have to chop away at the soil. Sometimes, this time of year, it can be like concrete and not even a shovel can penetrate it. If you think a target is old and this option would be hard to do, it would be best to wait till the ground thaws and hopefully nobody else will come by and find it before you get back to it. It would be a shame to damage a really nice find because you were anxious to get it. Not only that it will tear up the ground if you have to chop at it...Not good at a public park. We still have so much snow on the ground, it makes Cabin Fever seem worse. Last year this time I was detecting for weeks. It probably won't be till April before i will be able to get out this year.. So much for global warming!

Same, I wish this winter would come to an end! I would hate to wait until April. I guess I have to wait another month!

Use some of your vacation time and get out here to California we will let you dig here, our lakes are practically empty you can detect all day on the old shoreline and never get wet and its in the 70's.8-) just pack up some of that snow to help us with our drought. You can practice with your lesche where it is warm.

I would love that! The only thing is that it would be a couple days of driving, but that is somewhere I have always wanted to go.
