you dig enough targets you are bound to damage something, which is a great reason to have, and use a pin pointer. I wouldn't leave home without one.

I used a pin pointer it was just extremely hard to dig today in the ice. My brother tried to dig around the stuff but it didn't work out. On the bright side I got a great new knife for detecting.

dang... it did a number on that dime

dang... it did a number on that dime

It obliterated the dime! That gash was nasty! Imagine what it would do to something more rare like a seated dime!

IMO
Pinpointing & Frozen Ground are your problems ; not the Leshe.

But hey ; It happens..

If you did that damage to the dime, then the problem is NOT with the lesche! You need to learn better recovery methods.

Say What!??.... Just be patient Daniel son.

True that, I have spent about 1000 hours if not more of my life detecting and have never damaged anything even close to what I have today. I think my luck is just not too great right now.

Thank you, I learned my lesson today to never dig in the snow again!

Yeah you must of been digging in some rock hard frozen ground to put a hole in a dime. LOL!

I'd try digging a bigger plug with a garden spade. It's much easier to replace the plug and causes less damage than using just a leshe. I usually use the leshe to dig the hole deeper, or in the sides of the hole. Using this method it is very rare that I damage the target. Hope this helps! HH!

It was rock solid, I couldn't dig deeper than an inch. I hope it gets warmer soon.

Thanks for the advice! I will try that out, but the only problem was that I was in a very popular park and had to use a semi small shovel. In my other spots the garden spade sounds like a great idea!

Its a clad dime just hit it with a hammer it'll be fine... The only suggest I can think of is start doubling the size of your holes, hopefully that way the targets will escape the blade.

You were in solid ice! You did great...:headbang:

Thank you! I think today digging in the ice payed off, but it was very hard and I think I will wait until the spring before I do again.

YOURS MAY BE SHARP - BUT DIGGER GUYS USE LESCHE ON THEIR SHOW AND THEY MANGLE THEIR PLUGS AND THEN TEAR THE CRAP OUT OF THE HOLE
I USE A LARGE SHARP KNIFE TO CUT MY PLUGS - ALWAYS BIG ENOUGH SO I WONT HIT TARGETS AND WHEN I PUT IT BACK - YOU NEVER KNOW I WAS THERE

Imagine what it would do to a finger or hand! I've cut mine with my sod cutter so I can't imagine!
