I guess they are just very enthusiastic about having access to a good site. What is the harm in these posts? Do you want nothing but a listing of people finds? That would be pretty dang boring.

Will a lot of us hunt by ourselves...and just need to tell someone the good news !
Heck i`m always talking to myself...and sometimes it just leaks out into print.....i see no harm .

Because Tnet is a community of friends that enjoy the same hobbies. If a metal detecting buddy came up to you all excited to tell you he just got permission to hunt a new site, would you respond the same way?

Why not?
I enjoy reading posts of potential sites. I have a few on my wish list that when/if I'm granted permission, I'll post here first.
Peace ✌

If you have ever gotten permission to metal detect at a potentially fantastic place wouldn't you be pretty excited? In fact even before I get permission from some sites I'm already excited at the chance that I can metal detect there. I think it is kind of fun to read about places that people intend to metal detect at and see what kind of places they like to hunt, most of the time I'm happy for them getting permission to detect in such great places. As mentioned by NorthernTesoro, Tnet is a group of people who share the same interest and a chance to connect with people about your hobby, this forum should be about more than just what people found. If you do not like seeing those post than do not read them, I do not see reason to get upset about someone being enthusiastic about a place they want to metal detect at.

Just my Thoughts,

Since they paid their fee and and are overly excited about a permission they have received and maybe their wife or friends do not want to discuss or do not share in the passion, this is a great outlet to post in anticipation of their stellar finds.

Well said Loco-Digger!
Anticipation can be as exciting as great sites/finds. Although, I usually get my kicks from anticipation of potential sites/finds, every now n then, it happens. When it does is why WE all search.
Peace ✌

They're just excited about having a good spot to detect, and possibly some one can give them tips on the best way to search it.

I talk your ears off (in print) because my family darn sure doesn't share my...uh..hummm.. Enthusiasm !
Just like minded people sharing! Even if we all are different.

NOW SEE!!!... we have a conversation from it. much better.:)

btw.... went out today... ran the excal2 found 27 cents.. ton of trash...3 bottle caps...6 pull tabs...2 nails and a funky object... then went magnet fishing and caught a key fob(modern).
my girl found 3 pieces of metal and a nail... no trash

Yes! Controversy, options, personality, etc., make this site great.
Yet, I think thus far down boatloads' thread, I'm gettin' off topic. ;)
Peace ✌

Why do people post about sites they intend to metal detect?
For example: "Just got permission to hunt an old farm that burned down during the 1800's... can't wait to get out there...blah blah blah..."

What is the point of these posts? Go there and find something before you post about it.

Eat you a Snickers bar, because your not yourself when your hungry. Better now? RJ

I agree we are here for members to post.

As long as they do it in the correct areas, it's fine by me
