Whole day = $682.50

Little old ladies who will seriously run you over! And other pickers.

No little old ladies here, mostly guys 20’s-50s, most of them it is their only source of income, so most are aggressive.

Agreee. it was mostly dudes doing the hustling - with scales etc. I saw the same guys from house to house. The bulk of them were kind of rude and they rush so they miss plenty of stuff for other’s to find.

Thank you for the info. I was unaware that there was a burden of proof on my part when insuring precious metals. I naively assumed that if the package were lost by USPS, I’d simply get the insured value reimbursed. I’ll look into what you said before sending any more packages to the refiner. I appreciate it.

I'm not 100% on exact regulations. I know that some items have to be sent registered mail to be insured. It's my understanding that items sold on eBay can be valued at the sale price for insurance purposes. When I send PM's to the refiner I use priority mail with signature confirmation and never send more than I'm comfortable losing. If you think about it you shouldn't send more than you can afford to lose anyway. My refiner is an established business that I've been dealing with for several years. That doesn't mean they are always going to be fiscally solvent. They could overextend themselves, be a victim of embezzlement, theft, or whatever. They built a new facility over a year ago & I had a check from them bounce. They wired the money the next day but it was pretty obvious building & moving to the new facility caused cash flow issues.
