Got back Sat. from the beach and from detecting most that time. Finds were far and few other then clad. To make things right and get back on track we did some local digging.
The boy and I hit a new permission we've been trying to get a hold of for awhile now, timing was perfect.
14 Indians, 34 wheats, 2 buffalo's, and 6 silvers...
I took the lead in silvers finding 4 and the kid ran away with the Indians and wheats finding 10 Indians and 21 wheats.
Two of the kids wheats were 1909's with most his others being early wheats. I got two 1919's and a few other early ones.
All my IH dates were 1902, 1903, 1907 and a 1908. The kid's IH's were 1874, 1892, 1892, 1895, 1898, 1900, 1901, 1901, 1903 and a 1908.
My first silver find for the day was the best of the day so I'll save that for last. Lol My second silver was a 1945 merc that my pin pointer picked up just below the surface after I found it with the detector. It came up a 82 at 4" which was the same as the many memorials we were finding. I stuck the shovel just under the surface and the merc went flying.
Next was a silver ring marked .925 my first silver ring all year.
Next was one I always wanted to find, just never thought it would happen. It's just a Rosie but, it was flattened by a train. On this day I already found a couple flattened coppers and the kid found a couple too. This one is defiantly a dime and silver.
My last silver and the first one found for the day was a 86-88 hit at 4". Thought for sure I had a modern quarter being so shallow. Flipped a plug and had no trouble finding it with the pin pointer. Grabbed it out of the hole and got one swipe with the thumb removing the caked on dirt when I saw it wasn't a modern quarter, 1895 Barber!!
And it's from New Orleans.
I found all 4 of my silvers before the kid found any and evert time I'd find silver he would just shake his head. Then he found a 1935 merc of his own followed up by a silver pendant.
We both found a buffalo, his a no date and mine a 1935.
Also found a YMCA token and a little pendant. Not sure if the pendant is silver or aluminum.
We couldn't have asked for a better day specially after hunting hard all week at the beach and coming up empty.
