I found this medallion on the beach on Saturday morning. It was found in an area that just had a lot of contruction on a new restaurant and pier that was rebuilt after the Hurricane the summer before last.I know it's not a rare and priceless artifact and i'm pretty sure it's not that old either. It's slightly larger than a silver dollar, about half as thick and weighs 16.55 grams,it looks like it was a pin at one time because you can see where the "pin" was brazed on at one time on the back.It doesn't stick to a magnet,it registered 115 on my detector which is in the 25 cent range,it is a reddish rust color and if you scrape away the "paint" you can see a "gold" color underneath that. The image on it seems to be a man holding a staff, wearing a robe, standing knee deep in water, with a child on his left shoulder, the rays of the sun shining behind him.My questions-What could this alloy be? Brass or bronze?
Who is the person/s in the image?
What does this image represent,if anything?
I'm thinking it's religous in nature but i'm not that religious so........
