I haven't use the F-70 enough to compare it to my Tejon, but know the Tejon is about as deep as the Sov Gt with Iron mask off. I just like the Tejon and don't feel confident with the Fisher. Maybe if I spend more time with it I would like it more. At least the F-70 does not have the funny "fish bone" coil like the F-75.

This is a modification to this post. I need to get my glasses changed because my answer above doesn't apply to the question. I don't know what I was thinking. :coffee2:

hey sandman would like to try a f-70 to compare but i was asking about the 1200 series fisher 1270 its almost identical as far as features like the tejon, the only thing i wish the 1270 had better disc but tried on a freash water beach and it will go deep for and was running all metal mode.

The problem I found with the newer Fishers (F70/75) is their quality control on their coils is real bad. I went through 3 coils when I had an F75 and it still wasn't performing up to par. The F70 I had couldn't hold a candle to the Tesoro Eldorado I had. But, there seem to be people getting some good/great F75/F70s, so I think it has to be an inconsistent quality control. I just didn't have the patience to keep sending stuff back until I got a unit that worked as advertized. I can tell you that the Tejon I just started playing with has already shown me its better than the F70 I had (more depth for one).

He is asking about the Fisher 1270 vs the Tejon. NOT the F70 guys. I've heard that they air test about the same.

thanks for clearing that up but that s all right

Hey Sandman, what do you mean "but know the Tejon is about as deep as the Sov Gt with Iron mask off"? Do you prefer to use iron mask off on your Michigan beaches? If so, why? Thanks!

Ya i could not figure out were the F-70 & F-75 came into this ? For he asked about the 1270 & Tejon.....

i'm glad the topic is getting some feedback a bit even if the f-70 had to be thrown to in to get the thread started, ha ha ha

i am getting to believe that location has a lot to do with how deep a detector will detect . i have dug quarter at 13inch with the tejon to me thats great for any machine . i use a banynet to dig with that why i say 13 inch that how long the blade is .i just got the dealership for the fisher so i will be getting them in the next couple of wk. i think if the operator mind it operating on the same level as the machine then both would be good :laughing9:

Yes, good question, because I hunt with iron mask of on my GT because the soil is so mineralized, if I don't, I get constant nulling. However, I have detected a coin at 7" in these conditions. I don't know how deep it would go....

One thing to consider is that the 1270 was a little poor for both depth and discrimination when it came out. At some point it was improved but the only way you can guarantee your getting the best is to get the Special Edition version.

???

If I was going after relics out in the field it would be the 5900 Di pro analog. that detector go deep...but that's just me.
