Who Elects Moderator's!?

Hello all.
Who elects this site's moderators and why do they have such power/status?
All seem biased to this site, naturally. But they can shut down threads, ban TNeters, etc., at will.
Moderators say they don't get paid, yea right, but surely receive monetary gain by free Charter Membership.
Are the moderators truly knowledgeable, or just threats?
Please know, in no way do I mean to belittle jeff of pa, Tnmountains, River Rat, Treasure_Hunter or any other moderator! I only ask a question.
In posting this thread, I hope to one day attain "Banner", yet not get banned.

You couldn't pay me enough to try to moderate people like me.... They have it rough for sure. I'm guessing they just love the site so much they want to do all they can to make it an enjoyable place to hang out. I have no clue how they get invited to take on the job but I bet they have days they wish they had said no.. lol

seriously though, it's a privately owned site. they can make anyone they wish moderators.
and they can set the rules how they want/ and they are available for anyone to read
from my experience, the Mods here are nice and patient. They don't delete posts or threads without reason. Trust me I know from experience

I deduced that the moderators on this site are annointed by God and chosen that way because of their saintly powers. A good question to ask CincinnatiKid, especially at this time of year. Rumor has it that in former lives, at least three of these moderators were kings that followed a star and gained eternal favor for their actions. They come bearing gifts like fairness, protection and respect for all who are deserving and a dedication to protect the site, the Constituion and the idea of fair government and treasure hunting for all. And they do a great job...

Don't know who picks them, but I think they have done a great job with their selections. I think the mods are excellent.

There are no elections or applications for mods....

We get no monetary gain at all. By conquincdense all of us were already Charter Members before becoming mods to begin with.

I became a CM on 3rd week after joining TN and been one every since. I have anonymously gifted multible members with Charter Membership ever year since signing up so they get more than one CM from me each year.

If you read our rules and TOS you will see where we are coming from. Every single member here agrees to our TOS by posting a single post here.

Not sure what your question about "knowledgeable" is referring to, we all are treasure hunters if that is what you mean and in different areas....

Will guarantee I wouldn't frequent this site without them. Amazing how often that people get on line and make comments and snipe in a way you couldn't pay them to do face to face. I truly believe that some insecure people with a little knowledge take great pleasure in being condescending to others when they run no risk of getting that nose mashed. Our moderators do a great job of keeping it in check and are greatly appreciated from this end.
