Who Collects Cures and Remedies?

Here's one I found in a river years ago. It is unlisted in Knapp's 2006 Price Guide. There are a variety of "Dr. King's" medicines available, but no "Dr. C. King's" and no ague cure.

I'm pretty confident that there aren't too many examples of this bottle around. This, though, is another case of rare, but not esthetically pleasing. I guess that's what makes colored blob-top sodas so collectible -- blob-tops are both uncommon and eye-pleasing.

Who's got 'em? Cures and remedies? That is, bottles with the embossed words "cure" (in some form) or "remedy."

Show us some of your cure and remedy bottles! Here's another one of mine:

Don't give it a thought, 'Vibes'; it's always nice to see any antique bottles.

I've probably run out of "cures" and "remedies" bottles by now, and that 'Dog' keeps coming up with more amazing bottles! :hello2:

Whoa! I found one more:

and Road dog thanks for the great bottle pics!

I do have some cures but am too lazy to root around for them. :)

I'm just like to see folks interested in these things.

Harry, Is that Preston the same Preston from Maine and New Hampshire in the 1850's?

Dunno, 'Road Dog'. I see an OP Preston's Catholicon from Portsm., NH, in Knapp's 2006 price guide ($416.00 in 2000). My smooth-base bottle is not listed. I don't know anything else about Preston.

Preston I am referring seems to only have advertised in the 1850's. Oh well, here is a remedy that was right in front of my face in the cabinet (DOH!). It's a Bonpland's Fever & Ague Remedy. This stuff was advertised around 1850 -1858. Bonpland's Vegetable Remedy for the Fever and Ague and other diseases of a Bilious Character. Improved by the addition of a bag of pills with each bottle.
Here is a really crude example with a big open pontil.

One more from the cabinet. I forget which ones say Remedy. :tongue3:

Here is a very hard to find Dr. D.C. Kellinger's Remedies New York. This one is early 1850's.

It would be useful to have an image of your bottle. There are two different Spohn's bottles listed in Knapp's 2006 Price Guide with the same embossing. Besides that, we'd like to see the bottle. (BTW, it's "Goshen," Indiana.)

Here's a cure I just picked up for $30.00 It is embossed The Original Dr. Craig's Kidney Cure Rochester Ny. First one I've seen.
