Re: WHO AM I.........UPDATE NEW GAME PRIZES READ POST 1

I wouldn't call $125 million small potatoes....
Sanford I. Weill, chairman and CEO of Citigroup, never thought his daughter, Jessica, now Jessica Bibliowitz, would go into business. "He didn't put a lot of pressure on me, says Jessica. "I had an older brother and I was the girl. It was different then, 30 years ago. I guess his expectations were that I'd go out and be self-sufficient one way or the other and that I wouldn't stay on his payroll." Jessica, now 40 with a husband and two children, ages 8 and 10, is president and CEO of National Financial Partners, a New York City-based independent financial services distribution system. She signed on as CEO when the company was formed with $125 million from Apollo Management LP, a leveraged buyout firm. "She liked working and she always talked about wanting to have a career," Weill says. "I didn't know she'd end up in the financial services business, but I feel good that she did. Obviously we must have had some good conversations around the dinner table."

Maybe someone else knows.
I don't know where everyone has been today. Weekends had been a good time to play.
Good nite.

Grace Murray Hopper

I was thinking WAVE all the way (my mom was one).
But I also found out she was a pioneer programmer.

Re: WHO AM I.........UPDATE NEW GAME PRIZES READ POST 1

Yep, you're right. Actually, Admiral Grace Hopper. I got to meet her, and I will never forget how spunky she was even in her late 80's. I stood in amazement as she explained "nano" vs "nanosecond"...with pieces of wiring.

Here is a little about her:
"She was one of the first software engineers and, indeed, one of the most incisive strategic "futurists" in the world of computing.

Perhaps her best-known contribution to computing was the invention of the compiler, the intermediate program that translates English language instructions into the language of the target computer. She did this, she said, because she was lazy and hoped that "the programmer may return to being a mathematician." Her work embodied or foreshadowed enormous numbers of developments that are now the bones of digital computing: subroutines, formula translation, relative addressing, the linking loader, code optimization, and even symbolic manipulation of the kind embodied in Mathematica and Maple.

Throughout her life, it was her service to her country of which she was most proud. Appropriately, Admiral Hopper was buried with full Naval honors at Arlington National Cemetery on January 7, 1992."

Looks like you are up. BTW the second clue was her nametag. ;D

P.S. Is someone updating the wins or do we have to? I have to get to bed. Would you mind doing it for me? Appreciate it.

Sorry I missed out on this one. I saw her too and remember when she came to IBM (one of her several visits) with here little pieces of wire. As I recall they were about 8" long and represented how far electricity traveled in a nanosecond.

She was feisty ole gal. Pretty intelligent too. Remind you of anyone we know, especially the feisty part?... ;D

Yep you are correct, Walter Brennan. He was actually a singer too. Why don't they bring this stuff back onto tv?
