Clue....In the TV series, I was actually very abrasive and sometimes would treat my boyfriend with contempt. My successor was known for her gentle and being gaga over my boyfriend. Like I said...sometimes it seemed like he was here and sometimes he wasn't. You might say that he was very fast.

I had a sidekick who was a weakling, and sometimes my boyfriend was known to save him, as well as save me. Gosh, he was special man...ya know....a very out of the world man. Just a heck of a super guy.

In later years, Coates generally made an effort to distance herself from her connection with the Superman series. Coates did have a guest role as Lois Lane's mother, in the wedding episode of the 1990s TV series Lois and Clark.

BUT....YEP on Phyllis Coates.......who was born Gypsie Ann Evarts Stell

Noel Neill originally played Lois Lane in the movie serials.

Phyllis Coates was the first to play Lois Lane in the TV recurring serials. She was replaced by.....again...Noel Neill who then took the series to its finality.

A final note on Phyllis Coates, she did play Lois Lane's mother in one episode of Lois and Clark The New Adventures of Superman. While doing interviews with Teri Hatcher, Coates explained the rigorous filming schedule for the old series. She said the actors often wore the same outfits from one episode to the next because they filmed three or four episodes at one time.
