I bought a new Whites Beach Hunter ID 300 and decided I got taken in again by false advertising. The BHID 300 has a nice larger yellow coil that floats. Whites advertisements states. "FEATURES
NEW! 300mm 12-inch spider search coil with near-neutral buoyancy."
If you let go of the shaft, why does the coil float up to the surface? Neutral buoyancy means it stays where it is left. Near-neutral means it either sinks slowly or it slowly floats upward. As it stands you must force your arm to hold it down.
No big deal you say, it means to make it right you need to add a sock filled with sand to the coil or the shaft which adds water resistance to tire you out faster. The coil is OK if you don't go in the water, however there are other problems which I will dwell on in another post.
To those of you that use this detector and think I am all wet, I say till you have used other detector to compare it too, just be happy that you are leaving more targets in the sand for the rest of us to find. Do your homework......
