Hi,

Just found this point and was wondering if someone can help to ID it ( type, period, stone type). I very rarely find Native points so your help is greatly appreciated. Note: the other side isn't raised and appears to be almost completely flat. Found in South Eastern Canada.

Thanks.

Is the material Mistassini Quartzite?

Mistassini Quartzite

I don't know what "point type" name to put on it, but: Made on a flake. Fairly large, very thin and asymetric strongly suggests a knife. Since it is also notched, a hafted knife.

Thanks for info Quartzite Keith

I like Keith’s observations.

It’s not the same, but there is a similar looking knife from the Southeast part of the US called a Waller knife. Usually made from a flake, broad hefting notches like yours, probably a handy tool when butching a kill.

It does look similar. Thanks for the info
