Doc, I would reccomend looking at the Lluvia de oro and Tubares page. I traveled all through this area in the 50's by myself and mule just exploring. It took over a week to reach from Chinapas, It was unpopulated then. At times I went days without meeting anyone.

Not too far from the power plant site ruins is where I saw the 80 ft aquatic serpent in the river while crossing it by swimming. Needless to say, I always wore shorts after this. Had to cross the river twice a day.

On those two bells shown at Tubares, the one from 1700 is in penitence in the name of a woman, I have forgotten her name. the other was from a man, same reason.

I have many stories from this area. I knew Senor Becera when he was a kiddie. His family lived East of the lluvia on the arroyo Balajaqui, half way to the still lost mine of the Gloria Pan. which was my primary objective.

Sigh, many many memories of explorations of weeks that now take only a few hours, not too many bandidios anymore, too peaceful..

So we've established the fact that white gold is found in nature. But it is still an alloy, being that it is found mixed with a lot of silver in it.Which is what gives it the (white)color.A naturally occuring alloy mix.

Yep, it's a natural alloy of gold and silver, better known as electrum. A specimen is shown below:

Pbk, right on. You can start with pure Ag (Silver) and add any amount of Au (gold) that you may wish to produce any color from pure Ag (Silver) to almost Ag (Gold). Nature has done this in every case where Au (Gold) is alloyed with Ag silver. The same applies for many other elements from Bismuth, Chlorine, Copper to Zinc. All can modify it's basic color.

Obviously the reverse applies naturally.

It is the same for Nature as with man.

Incidentally, This is how an Assayer can identify which mine produced the gold until it is refined.

I fail to see any problem here?

I found a small chunk of dental gold in the parking lot of a dentist's office once. Nice shiney and yellow. Any idea what carat dental gold is? Monty

According to a PDF file titled "Chemical Composition of Dental Gold Casting Alloy and Dental Wrought Gold Alloys" at the link below, it can run anywhere from about 53.6% to 96.8% pure gold, or a little under 14K to a little over 22K, depending upon the hardness required for estimated wear. However, if you Google "dental gold," you'll also find listings for 24K.
