Where's the Bullseye on the 250 coil?

I used my new 250 for the first time today and found $1.57 in clad but I had trouble "Xing" the target due to the oblong coil. I've been using a bounty hunter with a round coil. I tried using the pinpointer feature with limited success but I couldn't figure out what part of the coil would be the bullseye(open area inside the coil). Any help would be greatly appreciated with this and other features you think I might need to know. Thanks.

Should be right in front of where the shaft attaches to the coil. The plastic is notched there, as I recall.

It depends how shallow the target is. If it is shallow, to about one inch, it will pinpoint with the inner front toe of the target. Keep the coil sitting on the ground. If it is deeper, then raise the coil a bit and it will be in the center. Below is a link to the Garrett Website to explain it a little better....

Re: Where's the Bullseye on the 250 coil?

The absolute best way to pinpoint with the 250 is to not think of a Bullseye or sweet spot exactly on the coil. Those will be bad habits that will always have your target off. Instead, try the following........

Never use the vertical length of the coil in pin-pointing as shown in the manual, website or wherever it is demonstrated. You only want to use the shorter/narrower width of the coil for pin-pointing. When you do have to X is a different direction, turn your body instead.

Keep these in mind........
a) You should scan the area where you suspect your target is for the presence of other objects that can interfere......you can do this using all metal mode or with the PP'er (Which is all metal)
b) You should do a preliminary X-ing without the use of the PP'er. In this case, the rough position will be indicated by the coil on the trailing edge of the coil, unlike many detectors which sound off on the center.
c) You can detune/focus in on the target by depressing and re-pressing the PP button.
d) Never glare at the PP LCD Bar Signal Strength on the panel. It is useless and will work against you.
e) With experience, you will learn that you don't need an exact bullseye on the coil........you just need to take note where the center of the width part of your coil is when the sound is loudest, and do that in two or three different angles.
