Where to find info on metal detecting spots

Libraries, google, borough/town hall records, old maps, etc....

I prefer to just drive around. Parks and schools are obvious places. People's yards are always good too. I like to try and think about what the area looked like a long time ago...it's obviously going to be different this many years later. Trees might be there now...long grass...might just look like a spot that you would never detect. I found that out this year when I did a section of woods that I've driven past many times and never even thought to detect. Do the obvious places first and then experiment. You aren't losing anything and you could gain a great deal.

Im from wisconsin and i use Wisconsin Historic Aerial Image Finder | WHAIFinder im sure you can find something like that for your state combined with google earth it can take you back to the past and might give you the edge on some locations that have been over looked ....
