Where Do You Sell Your Ivory Pieces?

In California, the sale of ivory, rhino horn or products that contain ivory is a misdemeanor, punishable by fines up to $50,000 and one year of incarceration.
"Ivory" also includes those parts of elephants, walrus, mammoths, hippos, warthogs, whales and rhinos.
Don......

Don,

We found a set of "Elephant Hair" jewelry at a garage/estate/divorce sale.... Paid $25.00 for the matching set the couple got on a trip to Africa. A necklace with 14kt gold ends and matching 14kt earrings. I've seen Elephant Hair jewelry on Ebay. I believe the hair comes from the tail....:tongue3:

I put a Chinese Trousse Set on ebay the other day. My description said it looked like it was made of bone or horn -I never used the word ivory - ebay pulled it anyway .

I've had the same problem -the folks at Ebay are stupid in identifying ivory from resin from bone - can't see the capillaries indicating bone - someone donate them glasses!

I plan on re-listing it using their guidelines from their email -
When listing these kinds of products, you'll need to:
- Include a picture of the item.
- Clearly state the item was made before 1900.
- Offer domestic shipping only.

Please understand that you listed an item made of or having Bone. If you are selling any bone made item then, you are required to mention what kind of bone is contained. Please be more specific about the material used while listing such item by mentioning name of animal, whose bone was used to make the item. As we prohibit the sale of items made from the bone of endangered species, we need to verify the same from listing details.

I'll try calling it ''cow bone '' next time

Yes mojjax, what you just mentioned... They pulled one of my listings a few months ago because I didn't put what type of bone the item was made out of. They want specifics when you list a bone or horn item.
