Detector(s) used
At-Pro, Fisher F2
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Is it my amount of finds? Is it my hours in field/rain/mud? Hours of research. Perhaps batteries I've burnt. I've read so far, 6 or so "code of ethic:icon_salut:"creeds (I thought missplaced; one even mentioned lighting fires- lol).
With about 10 months into great passtime, I'd say 12-15 outings/hunts (1-5 hours each), 2 road trips; 1/150miles and the other about 300miles rtrip, numerous hours researching,( reading, sifting & shoveling:BangHead::occasion14::notworthy::occasion18:thru forums), poison ivy across my face for 5 days (or 120 hours!!!) I'm loosing my shell this fall. Any other hoops to clear? :blob1:
Early on I've learned to throw off my md'er to the left or right when falling in brush (shaft can take about 4-6 psi where preferated. I'm 245 which = $$$$)
Oh yes, my heart is there.

Don't know. I was one for a week. Now I'm a junior member. I think you have to find some cool crap, email a bunch, LIKE some posts or pay $20 a year to become a Charter Member. Either that or know somebody important. Does it really matter? Will Hero status really define us or can we just journey forth in search of trinkets, babes and beer?

I been hunting 6 years and I'm still a newbie,...

Hi Ray! I see you're over in Gretna.....How's the hunting on that side of the river? I'm up in the 7th ward and mainly hunting over in the Bywater area, but occasionally hit some parks in other areas as well. Let me know if you are planning to be on this side of the river and you want to meet up sometime for a park hunt.

Your going to be a newbie each time you go to a new place to hunt.

As far as these forums go your post count and how long you have been on one of these detector forums don't mean a thing.

I have been detecting for years and still don't know what I am doing.

I was meaning from our peers. Not forum status (Romper Room). I'm a grown a$$ man. Newbie sounds so 12'ish. Prehaps when I unpack the headphones.

When others ask you on a regular basis, for your advice, you nolonger will be a newbie... Oh, and you have to DROP the emoticons from your posts! TTC

When i first started my newbie was up to when i turned on my detector and went and was swinging it for the first time ............ About one minute ......... Did not have treasure fourms then to mess with my mind.. You read every thing on these fourms... and take it to heart it will drive you crazy.... After reading the fourms you will think you have the wrong detector and keep switching detectors..... only to find out they all do the same thing FIND METAL .... It is up to you if you don't think you are a newbie after one swing of your detector your not........... If you think you are not a newbie after one swing of your detector you are not........... Why do most on these forums rely on what others think....... I don't know why so many need to be reassured by others........ Be your own person be confident in what you think you are........Not what others think..................... trailer-park-boys.jpg

Lighten up Francis. Don't know who your peers are. If your not talking about this or other forums. Then can you clarify?

& THIS!

No emotions here Terry, only a sense of humor !!
THANX, Ray
Only pulling your leg on the emoticons. I enjoy "passing on" what I know about detecting. I have NOT done it all and in 40+ years of detecting, I am FAR from finding it all. My endeavors are channeled towards coinshooting and, recently, gold prospecting and nuggetshooting. Just two pieces of wisdom for you... hunt WHERE PEOPLE GATHER and KNOW YOUR MACHINE! Everything else will fall into place. Take care, friend. TTC

You see what most here is telling you makes no sence at all........... From there point of view what ever you do in life you will be a newbe all your life............ Lets say if you ...drive truck .. if you are a doctor... if you are in construction .... brick layer , plumber , electrician , and you did those things for years .. And are a expert in them...you are still a newbie in there way of thinking........... look at it this way metal detecting is not that hard...... you see little kids doing it .... You swing your detector it beeps if you like the sound or number you dig ......... that is it a simple easy hobby.... That about 99% of the people on earth can do............Most try to make it seem like brain surgery...................
