When has a building been moved?

I've seen a few posts about checking the foundation of a building to determine whether or not it has been moved. Can someone clarify that for me. How would one know?

I would think that you would want to know where it was moved FROM. That's the place to hunt. Just ask the tenant.

I agree with the above posting, Anything dropped or buried is still there.

That's my point....heres the example........I've been eyeballing an old church, this thing has square nails, I know it's old. I'm questioning whether it was built there or moved there. Will the foundation "talk" to me?
