When did you start CRH?

when I was 8 years old, going to the bank asking for 5 rolls of pennies.

For those who voted already, thank you! However, the poll is not closing anytime soon. I started CRH when I stumbled on this forum.

Age 12 in 1955 with my father.

Did you think about keeping the silver back then? Also, how much silver was there in circulation right after the introduction of clad?

My Dad had a collection and got me into the hobbie when I was around 8. I can't say I knew exactly what to look for but I kept bicentenial quarters because I thought they were cool. I had a couple 2 dollar bills and a few wheats. I really started to do some research and save when I hit my 20's though.

Golden Silver

I started about 1979. People started hoarding right after clad coin was introduced. From what I remember, people are finding more silver nowadays than they were back then. What's stuck in my mind most is that 40% halves weren't worth squat even when silver prices started to climb in 1979-80.

I started about 4 years ago. I bought an ace 250 metal detector and stumbled across this site while researching metal detecting sites.

In those 4 years I have amassed over $2000 in Face halves most of which I have sold, to buy better detectors.

My first week of CRHing I found Franklins Walkers and 64's needless to say I was hooked.

Dec 2010 while recovering from foot surgery. Had coin collected as a kid in the early 1960s but stopped after going into the Army in 1970.

Started when I was a kid, looking through the change my dad got at his store, dropped it for years as I went to college etc and picked it up a couple years back.

If anyone still wants to vote or post, feel free to do so.

During the Nixon Administration.

Was there any specific reason for doing it then? Or is it just a date?

I've been into coins since I was a kid.

And I am going on my 3rd week as a full-fledged CRH'er!

H$H!!
TGB

I started in 2010 and had just turned 27. I also metal detect at the beach on occasion and one of the metal detecting forums referenced this website and thats when I started. My very first silver was a 1916 mercury dime and that's when I was hooked!
