wheats are hardy, zinc stinks!

I found my first wheat yesterday, now need to find some pre 1964 silver, then silver jewelry, then some gold. Then I want to look for older coins.....yeah.. yeah thats what
I wan't to do!!!!!!

Anyway whats the deal with zinc it rots a away in the ground, all these coins came from the same area( wheat, and two nickels at top of pic) the wheat penny is hardy compared to the other zinc ones????? What is a zinc penny anyway???

Zinc is a reactive metal meaning that chemical reactions occur when the zinc comes into contact with other minerals in the ground. Copper is much less reactive. I hate them too...they show up in the high gold ring range so I end up digging up a lot of them. :-\

I remember where I found my first wheat....you'll never forget!

Go get 'em mw!

;)

I don't dig targets shallower than 3 inches so I bypass most zincs and clad. Trouble is I could miss newly dropped gold rings :(

Nice digs...
